U.S President Biden has announced a new phone line for the U.S residents. The new line was opened in the second week of January 2022 for ordering the complimentary at-home covid tests.
Earlier, the administration launched a website in connection with the launch of free covid-19 tests. The introduction of the new number, 1-800-232-0233, might be helpful for those who can’t leverage the website all the time.
The progress in terms of enabling high-speed internet across the nation in recent times is quite commendable as per the statistics in the U.S.
However, despite such an outstanding achievement, surveys on internet access to the public have been an eye-opener. Reports indicate that about 19 million Americans, about 6 % of the population, are without access to definite broadband service at required speeds. In terms of rural areas, about one-fourth of the people are without access to these services, and with respect to tribal areas, this is about one-third of the overall population. So, this is a timely and much-needed move by the Biden administration.
According to sources close to the White House, U.S residents can leverage the phone service from 8 am to midnight ET, 7 days a week. Besides, the assistance is available in about 150 languages.
A specific order will include four tests, and there’s a limit as well, that is one order per home. The shipment of the orders will be carried out within 12 days of receiving the order.
“The Postal Service is moving incredibly fast here. They are packing and shipping tests as soon as they arrive. Tens of millions of tests have arrived so far. It’s an all-hands-on-deck effort,” informs Jeff Zients, the White House Coronavirus response coordinator.
