“Our purpose has always been to ‘Create Packaging that Saves Lives.’ Never was it more clear how true that is than during the recent pandemic. Sterile packaging and sterilization processes really are critical to our entire health care system,” says Randall Troutman, VP and GM of Printpack Medical.
Printpack Medical began as a supplier of header bags for sterile procedure kits. It has grown to offer a wide range of flexible sterilizable packaging, including peelable pouches, proprietary tough forming films, foil laminations and unique packaging for labware.
Because Printpack Medical has redundant production for our products, customers don’t have to devote resources to the complex and costly qualification of alternatives.
Our range of supply management programs ensures that customers always have sterilizable packaging where and when it’s needed. Packaging is made on both sides of North America, so domestic delivery is not dependent on ocean or air shipping.
In one recent case, a client needed a more robust package to withstand the rigors of sterilization and manual handling in the healthcare environment. Printpack Medical designed a custom breathable, sterilizable package that held up to the demands of handling and ensured sterility of the device. The custom package was delivered at a lower cost compared to the prior package used by the client. The package also supported the customer’s environmental sustainability goals.
In another success, a customer wanted to offer a traditionally non-sterile product in a sterile form. This required a new package design that would meet the current specifications, withstand a rigorous sterilization method, and adhere to all regulatory requirements. After screening choices in the market, Printpack Medical’s package was the only one to satisfy all requirements. Key to the design of this package was a collaboration with several other divisions of Printpack for their expertise in high-quality printing and specialty film lamination.
Printpack is proud that its sterilizable flexible packaging is used by device makers across the globe to protect patients in tens of thousands of medical procedures every day. They continue listening closely to their customers and the market to deliver custom packaging solutions preferred by both device makers and clinicians, while providing a customer experience unmatched in the market.
VP and GM Randall Troutman says, “Our mission is to be the market’s preferred partner for flexible sterilizable packaging – both for the experience of doing business with us and for our products. Printpack Medical is committed to meeting the needs of medical device makers and the clinicians who use their products. Our size makes us agile, and the backing of the greater Printpack organization makes us strong. Our product development engineers are able to design a package solution for your specific device, sterilization method, and end use.”
Printpack Medical is part of Atlanta-based Printpack, a privately held business that has been family-owned for over 65 years. It is currently led by Chairman and CEO Jimmy Love, son of the founder.
